Foreigners are still a rare sight in Lüliang, and opportunities for true international cultural exchange are even rarer. Most children have never met people from different countries, let alone experienced a real cross-cultural class.
To change that, Sunny, the founder of InHe China Travel, partnered with Changjin Road Primary School, whose principal immediately recognized the value of such an opportunity and offered full support. Over 400 students registered within a single morning.
With only six foreign volunteers, we were able to host three classes of around 200 students each on a Sunday afternoon.
Our intention was simple yet meaningful: to let children experience foreign cultures and global perspectives beyond vocabulary and grammar—because language is a tool, but understanding is the real goal.

The event opened with brief introductions from Sunny and the international volunteers before students entered their classrooms for a rare multicultural experience.

We hosted three themed cultural classrooms, each led by volunteers dressed in traditional clothing from their home countries, creating an immersive environment from the moment the children walked in.
What the students learned:
The atmosphere was lively, curious, and full of meaningful exchanges. At the end of each session, students signed their names on the cultural background wall, marking their participation in this special day.
A shared moment can bridge worlds that once felt far apart.

After the cultural classes, everyone moved outdoors for a handball session—a new sport for many students that quickly filled the playground with excitement. The kids threw themselves into the game and later rushed to the volunteers for photos and autographs, making it one of the day’s highlights.

Local media arrived to cover the event, and the afternoon ended with group photos, interviews, and lively conversations that underscored its success.
This cultural exchange event received overwhelmingly positive feedback from teachers, students, and parents.
As the first event of its kind in Lüliang, it marked a meaningful milestone. For Sunny and the InHe China team, it laid a foundation for bringing global understanding to remote places, connecting the world not just through travel—but through genuine people-to-people exchange.
It was only a half-day event, but it created memories and impact that will last much longer—and showed what becomes possible when worlds meet, even in the most unexpected places.
