What is Daoism?

One important thread of this heritage is Daoism, one of China’s oldest indigenous philosophies and spiritual traditions. Rooted in harmony with nature, balance, and the principle of Dao (the Way), Daoism has shaped Chinese views on health, ethics, governance, and daily life for over two thousand years. From mountain temples and meditation practices to traditional medicine and lifestyle wisdom, Daoism remains a living tradition—quietly influencing how Chinese people understand the world and themselves today.
